I am in love with a half-orc and his name is Oskar*SWOON*
You don’t have to know anything about Critical Role to read this book. However, if you do then I am curious to know if you thought the smut should’ve been more over the top?
If you don’t know what Critical Role is then you don’t need to know anything about D&D to read the book either.
Oh yeah, there’s eggplanting, but it’s like a middle of beginner and middle…so a middle of a middle.
Totally a HEA, obviously!
You’re on The Amber Road most of the time. It’s like nothing but a walking story…similar to how Lord of the Rings is a walking story, but they bone in this one.
FMC learns to be her true self thanks to Oskar and the magic inside of her
MMC cries and it’s like so hot. He needed to cry more. We needed a whole chapter to this half-orc crying please ❤
Honestly, I need to be walked on this Amber Road. Let a Lindwyrm know when you go.
You know when you accidentally turn your betrothed into a horse? Well…it happens…
Don’t worry, they don’t eggplant it while he’s a horse. That’s a different genre.
This is a cozy romantasy about a chronically ill girl learning to love herself and find herself worthy even with chronic illness. Her parents suck so she was raised to hate herself and find herself weak.
There is also an assassination attempt which isn’t part of the MMC turing into a horse. That’s magic!
If you’re new to romantasy then this book is for you. The spice is at a beginner level, which is why I said cozy romantasy.
DRAGON. D-R-A-G-O-N there is a dragon and BRIMSTONE!
Book 2 better have a dragon because there can’t be any other way of getting brimstone…I mean lightning? DRAGON! DRAGON! DRAGON!
If you didn’t fall in love with Kingfisher in book one then you’ll rethink that with this audio POV
He fights a dragon and saves Ajun City *Swoon*
The first two stories are obvi before Quicksilver, but then the third story… is about him giving Carrion Swift boots and seeing that his mother already made a dress for Saeris
You know it’s got your usual romantasy tropes
Oh, aaaaaaaaand Kingfisher maybe would have been with someone else?!
Loved how snarky Kingfisher is at the start of the book.
Kind of wanted him to stay that way. In the middle of the book he shifts to more of a lover and protector with not much snark, so much so even the FMC is like, “WTF! Where’s the snark?!”
What’s inside:
Mind speaking
Magic
Vimpiars
FAE
World traveling
Gods
Fated Mates
God Binds
3 spice scenes
Mothers as oracles
Loved the FMC is an alchemist and her interactions with the quicksilver. Hoping we get more of her interacting with other metals in book 2
Carrion Swift is the comic relief and I love that for him. I hope we get more of hm just being him in book 2. I would have loved more of him here especially during battles.
So like, is she Queen? What happens? Like, are they going to have babies now? What was that all about? Does she make more weapons? Do we get more of the mother’s oracle readings? He HAS to have quicksilver in him, right?
My favorite scene is Dullahan Dan in his all black latex suit costume playing D&D with Rafe and his friends. The squeaking noise was my favorite part.
I wonder what it would be like to have a head that separates from your body. Imagine all the things I could do…
I kind of want to start dressing like a cowboy now with extra short shorts! I am sensing a cowboy theme with this series…
Rafe is a butt virgin so if you like that trope, this is the book for you.
Again, still waiting for my ride to Goliaths. Hit an alien up!
Note from us: We’ll suggest places to read or listen, but whenever you can, go straight to the authors as it’s the kindest way to show love and support them ❤
Book 2 of the Murderbot Diaries is also entertaining because we get a whole lot of what Murderbot is thinking, feeling, and doing.
The action is different, no weird monsters. Just more SecUnits…the not good kinds like Murderbot.
This is Murderbots big adventure on his own. Our baby boy is all grown up and left the nest. LOLs
We do get a robot friend named STAR. I like her, oh yeah, I made it a her. STAR just gave those vibes, plus in the graphic audio they have a feminine voice.
Also, our boy, Murderbot, gets a makeover and I am not sure how I feel about it.
There might be decapitation, but could also be book 3. Whose to say.
We get clues and are closer to uncovering the truth.
Book 1 of the Murderbot Diaries is very entertaining and felt fast paced to me because of all the action. It’s now a comfort book.
Graphic Audio was best and I only listen to this version *Swoon*
Oh, and this book series (Books 1 – 4) are very short reads. About 2 – 3 hours of listening.
Sometimes I feel like Murderbot. Humans are weird and kind of annoying, but I guess like him, I should also learn to adapt.
Some similarities to the television series, but also different. In the book we are left with the cliffhanger of who is GrayCris and what do they want? Not sure about the tv show.
My first Brandon Sanderson book and boy was it adorable.
Tress of the Emerald Sea is whimsical and funny. Finally a female lead character that is actually leading. There are also quite a few female characters who have main roles in this story.
Love the world building and the idea of a waterless ocean, of course, set in the Cosmere Universe. The waterless ocean reminded me of the video game Death Stranding a little bit.
The story is narrated by the character Hoid who is part of the Cosmere Universe. The Graphic Audio is a must listen to.
The voice of Hoid is great and I absolutely love the character, Ulaam. Always wanting body parts. How dreamy!
After listening to this story I am left with cups. Thinking about cups and wondering about them.
I should be clear with you. This is a Barnibus Quill book. There is magic, sabotage, love, and world building that plays into the characters and the story.
There are peppers of spice throughout the book, but the Ruby Dixon Groan and most of you have come to love occurs towards the end of the book. Like the last 100 pages. You’re just teased the entire story with that sweet release.
I call it her romantasy series and I think you should all start doing that ❤
I loved the fledgling group and honestly, I think I could be in it. Like I could totally be in Aspeth’s group. We would rock it.
I am also obsessed with Slitherskins and need to be friends with them ASAP. If any one knows where they hang out, hit a Lindwyrm up.
P.S. The Audiobook, which we recommend, is gold. You should listen too 🙂
